13 ITALIAN MOVIES AT THE HAIFA FILM FESTIVAL
Haifa, October 12 – October 21, 2019
Thirtheen Italian movies will be screened at the XXXIV Haifa International Film Festival, one of the most important and representative international film festivals in Israel.
Italy presents some very recent productions, which have already been appreciated by both critics and general public, such as Piranhas (2019), by Claudio Giovannesi, winner of the Silver Bear for best screenplay at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, in competition at Haifa in the CARMEL COMPETITION section; Martin Eden (2019), by Pietro Marcello, which won the Coppa Volpi for the best male performance with Luca Marinelli at the last Venice Film Festival and The traitor (2019), by Marco Bellocchio, the only Italian film in competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2019 and winner of six 2019 Silver Ribbons, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
In the HAIFA CLASSICS section of the Festival we will see masterpieces of the caliber of The night porter (1974), by Liliana Cavani and Miracole in Milan (1951), by Vittorio de Sica.
The program includes also a tribute to Anna Magnani, with the screening of Rome open city (1945), by Roberto Rossellini and Bellissima (1951), by Luchibo Visconti, along with the documentary The passion of Anna Magnani (2019), by Enrico Cerasuolo.
