CORELLI AND THE ITALIAN BAROQUE | Chamber Music

For the series “The Italian concerts of the Haifa Chamber Music Society”, a concert by maestro Michael Hell, recorder and harpsichord (Austria). Event organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Haifa.

From 1992 until 2003 Michael Hell studied recorder with Siri Rovatkay-Sohns at the University for music and theatre in Hannover. As of 1999 he additionally studied harpsichord with Zvi Meniker. He continued his studies in harpsichord, basso continuo, and historically informed performance practice with Jesper Christensen at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, where he received a diploma with highest honours in 2006. Since then concert tours have taken Michael Hell throughout Europe, Asia, the USA and Colombia. His emphasis is on chamber- and vocal music, with his ensembles “Austrian Baroque Connection” and “Musicke’s Pleasure Garden” he concentrates more and more on baroque opera. Since october 2005 Michael Hell has been teaching harpsichord, recorder and basso continuo at the University of Music Graz. Since October 2011 he has been professor for harpsichord at this institution. Since 2010 he has been leading the baroque orchestra Neue Grazer Hofkapelle together with Lucia Froihofer.
