In sun-drenched Calabria, on the forgotten borders of the European refugee crisis, 14-year-old Pio Amato is desperate to grow up fast. He is one of the few to easily slide between the regions’ factions – the local Italians, the African immigrants and his fellow Romani.
Pio follows his older brother Cosimo everywhere, learning the necessary skills for life on the streets of their hometown. When Cosimo disappears and things start to go wrong, Pio sets out to prove he’s ready to step into his big brother’s shoes. In Italian, with Hebrew & English subtitles.

“Italy, Cultures, the Mediterranean” is a cultural program, which the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will implement in the Middle East and North Africa during the year 2018, with the purpose of consolidating the dialogue between the two sides of the Mediterranean Sea. A dialogue based on the exchange and enhancement of different cultural and social identities and the combination of tradition, innovation and creativity.
