CONTCOMP FESTIVAL 2019 @ THE UNIVERSITY OF HAIFA

Series of concerts, lectures and workshops, with the participation of the Italian scholar Angela Ida De Benedictis and the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Haifa.

Angela Ida De Benedictis participates in the Haifa University Contemporary Music Festival (ContComp 2017) with two lectures:

  • May 22nd, from 12:15 till 13:45 | Lecture in English on The first dramaturgival ideas and engagement in Luigi Nono’s theatrical projects of the 1950-60s, Room N. 322, Dr. Reuven Hecht Arts Center.
  • May 23rd, from 10:15 to 11:45 | Lecture in English on Performance practice, score and interpretation in Nono’s work with live electronics, Room N. 322, Dr. Reuven Hecht Arts Center.

Angela Ida De Benedictis is member of the Scientific Board of the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel since 2014, where she is curator of more than 20 music Collections (Luciano Berio, Cathy Berberian, Pierre Boulez, Helmut Lachenmann, Bruno Maderna, Salvatore Sciarrino, among others). PhD in musicology from Pavia University, and post-PhD in Berlin, with a grant of the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, on music and technology. Director of the Scientific Board of the Centro Studi Luciano Berio (Florence), and member of the Scientific Committee of the Archivio Luigi Nono (Venice). Previously she was Professor at the Universities of Pavia (Cremona), and Guest Professor in Padua, Salerno and Bern. Her main research interests are: contemporary music; electronic music; music and technology; philological investigations and the study of creative process; theory and analysis featuring 20th-century music; musical theatre; authorship and ‘open’ form in music; music for radiodrama. Publications include the writings of Luigi Nono (English edition: University of California Press 2018) and Luciano Berio (Einaudi 2013); Imagination at Play. The Prix Italia and the Radiophonic Experimentation (RAI/Die Schachtel 2012); Claudio Abbado alla Scala (Rizzoli 2008); Radiodramma e arte radiofonica (EDT 2004); New Music on the Radio (ERI-RAI 2000), others books and essays, and critical editions of works by Berberian, Maderna, Nono (Intolleranza 1960, Schott, Mainz, 2013), and Camillo Togni.
