GARDENS AROUND PISTOIA: VILLA GARZONI AND THE GARDEN OF PINOCCHIO | Lecture

For the series “In the shade of gardens, in Italy and abroad”: A lecture by Dr. Ada V. Segre, Technion and WIZO School of Design.

balena parco di pinocchio

This lecture presents two gardens facing each other in the Tuscan country side between Lucca and Pistoia: Villa Garzoni (17th-18th century) and Pinocchio’s garden (20th century).
In addition to their physical proximity, the two gardens are ideally connected by the figure of Carlo Lorenzini (Collodi), author of Pinocchio (the book) and son of a farmer at Villa Garzoni.
The abundance of waters from the nearby Pescia river triggered the creation of both gardens. Gushing waters rush down in the baroque garden of Villa Garzoni. As well, water plays a primary role also in Pinocchio’s garden, where the world wide loved story of the puppet turned into a boy is told along a path marked by its most significant episodes.

Event held in Hebrew, with slides in Italian.
Refreshments from 18:15.
