The first stop on our journey through time and space takes us to Lazio and Etruria. Latins and Etruscans shaped and strongly influenced proto-historical Italy and constitute – in fact – the link between past civilisations and the subsequent Roman domination. The finds from the two neighboring cultures indicate that language, beliefs and traditions were different, if not divergent: where did they come from, then? How did the two groups develop? Did they influence each other? How?

The series | The Italian peninsula achieved linguistic, artistic, religious and political unity only in the Republican age; before the end of the 6th century BC it was inhabited by various ethnic groups with different beliefs, languages and cultures. In this series of meetings, through the examination of archaeological finds, ancient texts, tomb paintings and works of art, we will learn about the ancient Italic peoples, the evolution of their civilizations and how they influenced each other.
