MY PASSPORT | Intercultural competence training course

In the framework of the intercultural competence training course, first out of five meetings lead by Dr. Marta Longu, social psychologist. Event held in Italian. CLOSED EVENT, reserved to the students attending the intensive Italian language courses at the IIC in Haifa.

Experiential:

  • Who am I? Identity definition and recognition of multiple contexts in which I can experience my identity;
  • What represents myself and why (Italian art cards will be used to facilitate participants’ self-reflection and self-expression);
  • Who is my point of reference? Who is my “lighthouse”?

A bit of theory:

  • Personal/Interpersonal and Socio/Cultural Identity (Tajfel, 1981; Och, Capps, 1996; Papadopoulos, 2013)

Objectives:

  • Raise awareness about the complexity of identity
  • Raise awareness about personal, inter-personal and cultural resources

The seminar aims at providing theoretical and practical tools to facilitate the integration in a new socio-cultural context, namely the Italian culture. The seminar is offered to prospective students and expats in Italy.

Course held in Italian.

Marta Longu holds a Master’s Degree in Social Psychology from the University of Cagliari and a Masters in Refugee Care from the University of Essex and Tavistock Clinic, United Kingdom.
