On the occasion of the XVI edition of the Italian Language Week in the World, under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, a lecture by Prof. Prof. Noemi Bitterman, Industrial Design, Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, Technion, Haifa.
Global trends of population aging and rise in chronic diseases, medicine shifting from the treatment of diseases to proactive prevention and wellness, healthcare consumerism, and personal medicine help to move healthcare services from hospitals to community and home.
In addition innovative technologies of telemedicine, Information Communication Technology, smart technologies, Internet of Things, wearable computers and E-health services, open a developing market of home healthcare devices helping in monitoring, diagnosis, disease prevention, treatment, alleviation of disease and rehabilitation, having social and economic implications
The lecture will present scientific and academic collaborative activity of two leading industrial design programs in Venezia and Haifa in the field of design of home healthcare devices as part of a long-lasting personal collaboration between professors Bitterman and Chiapponi acting as part of an international group of MEDdesign.

Prof. Noemi Bitterman: Chair of Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture & Town Planning, Technion, Haifa and an academic advisor of a program for Masters of Industrial Design (MID) with focus on Medical and Social Design (‘Design for All’) at the Division of Continuing Education and External Studies of the Technion, Tel Aviv (opened 2010). Holding D.Sc in Medical Sciences (Physiology) and M.Sc in Industrial Design, including Post Doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Former position (1982- 1999): Director of Hyperbaric Research Unit of the Israeli Naval Hyperbaric Institute (INHI).
Specialist in healthcare technology and medical devices design, hospitals and operating room of the future design, smart home, digital healthcare services, design for disaster and rescue situations, design for extreme environments, hyperbaric and underwater.
