The plot: Miriam is a young Jewish woman, who grew up in a secular family in London, but was actually born in Israel. One day she bumps into Kaled, a Palestinian who asks her to follow him to Ramallah to meet a dying man. Who is this man? How does he relate to her? Keen to understand, Miriam embarks into a journey in search of her identity, accompanied by Amos, an Israeli man tormented by a mysterious past.

Maria Elisabetta Ranghetti (1977) graduated in Modern Literature from the University of Pavia with a thesis on Steven Spielberg’s Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation (2002). She enjoys travelling, taking pictures, painting and above all reading. She first travelled to Israel and Palestine in 2005. Since then she has been visiting Jerusalem every year to pursue her studies in rabbinical hermeneutics and deepen her knowledge of the land and of the Hebrew language. She has been writing since she was very young and she collaborated with some papers on cultural and Middle Eastern matters. “Beyond the sea of Haifa” is her debut novel.
