RE-NEW → FUTU(RE)-NEW
There are moments when renewal becomes impossible.
Not because we do not want to begin again,
but because reality interrupts the possibility of doing so.
RE-NEW is crossed out.
Suspended.
Postponed.
Interrupted by a condition that does not allow continuity, that breaks the sequence, that makes “again” temporarily available.
Yet every interruption produces a fracture. And every fracture opens a different direction. We choose to begin from that fracture.
In uncertain times like these, tensions rise to stifle hope, to oppress the future, to cast shadow over every possibility.
Yet culture, discreet and tenacious, stands against this fate. It is the seed that quietly plants tomorrow, sheltering beneath the surface sprouts of imagination no power can uproot. Culture is the fine thread that keeps a silent light alive when everything else feels dimmed, teaching us that those who sow ideas prepare fertile ground for whatever may come. Culture is the protective shell for the FUTURE.
FUTURE.
A word that carries both projection and uncertainty. A word that promises, but does not guarantee. At its very end, a fragment remains: FUTURE-
FUTURE-
What can appear as a minus sign – a denied promise, placed at the end of the word “future” – transforms into a link to what is yet to come. It becomes a connective mark. A bridge toward what has yet to take shape.
Not at the beginning, but after.
Not as repetition, but as consequence.
Not as a return, but as a residue.
We do not start from renewal. We start from what comes after.
From what remains.
From what resists.
FUTU(RE)-NEW
The new does not come from repetition. It emerges from what endures beyond interruption.
In a time of pause, design cannot simply restart.
It must re-position itself.
It must re-think its role.
It must RE-HACK its own conditions.
This is not (still) just a workshop. Not yet, not anymore. This is a beginning without a beginning. A project that chooses not to stop, even when it cannot fully start.
We move forward through fragments. Through words. Through small acts of meaning. Because culture does not pause, it transforms.
Although the physical workshop has been postponed, we have chosen to respond by extending the dialogue.. Design does not stop; culture designs the future and projects the future.
Culture reframes, projects, and accompanies the future as it unfolds.
From now until the actual implementation of the initiative, we will periodically share updates and reflections on the project.
