The lecture will discuss Italy in World War II and the results of the war. After the war and as a result, the Italian artists of the 50’s rose and rebelled against the glorious Italian artistic past and the recent past that enabled the rise of fascism. This artistic resentment was also towards the harsh and poor present, and the increasingly established of classes across Italy. The Arte Povera was manifested in great uniqueness and concern for poor and unconventional materials. The lecture will also review the impact of arte Povera on the Israeli “Dalut Hachomer” (meager art).

  • The six lectures are a series. Mandatory FREE registration at the bottom of this page. For further information, please contact the Italian Cultural Institute of Haifa at 04-8536091.
