Gianfranco Ferré, Prêt-à-Porter Fall/Winter 1981-82

A journey across one thousand years of fashion influences between Europe, Asia and the Middle East: this is the framework within which the fashion historian Sisley Schio will portrait some of the central changes in the fashion phenomenon, in Italy and in Europe. The assimilation of ideas and styles from East and Far East has always played a powerful role morphing Italian and European fashion, since the early Middle ages, through Renaissance and the birth of Industrialism, until the contemporary trends where cinema, digital production and the culture of social media are shaping a new aesthetic panorama. The reciprocal fascination between West and East is pivotal in the genesis of fashion's social and economic phenomenon. Curiosity, exoticism and geopolitical balances feed a never-ending sequence of exchanges and references in the production of Italian fashion.
