In this second second stage of our journey we learn about the “Italo-Oriental” tribes, who shared the same language, but not the same history and culture. The archaeological finds illustrate their beliefs and traditions and reveal the links with neighboring ethnographic groups, such as the Latins, Romans and Etruscans. The peoples who lived in northern Italy (Veneti and Ligurians) were, instead, in contact with Gauls, Etruscans and Celts, as demonstrated by their art, an expression of multicultural civilizations, open to mutual influence.

The series | The Italian peninsula achieved linguistic, artistic, religious and political unity only in the Republican age; before the end of the 6th century BC it was inhabited by various ethnic groups with different beliefs, languages and cultures. In this series of meetings, through the examination of archaeological finds, ancient texts, tomb paintings and works of art, we will learn about the ancient Italic peoples, the evolution of their civilizations and how they influenced each other.
