RENAISSANCE AND JUDAISMA lecture by Giorgio Montefoschi, writer, journalist and art critic.Event in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.In the second half of the 15th Century, Florence was not only the most important centre of Italian culture. It was a sort of ideal city, whose dominant characters were art and beauty, geometry and perspective, economic power and politics, religion and State. In 1445, Sandro Botticelli was born there.Giorgio Montefoschi (1946) lives in Rome. He published sixteen novels, a book of literary essays ("Quando leggere è un piacere", by Rizzoli) and a book of travel stories ("Dove comincia l'oriente", by Guanda). In 1994, Montefoschi won the Strega Prize with "La casa del padre" (Bompiani). Among his publications are "La felicità coniugale" (Rizzoli), "La terza donna" (Garzanti), "Le due ragazze con gli occhi verdi" (Rizzoli). "La fragile bellezza", his latest novel was published by Bompiani last February. Montefoschi has been collaborating with Corriere della Sera for the last twenty years.
