Achsharot in Italy. The case of Ricavo di Castellina in Chianti
The book reconstructs the story of the achshara which was set up in Ricavo di Castellina in Chianti in 1934 and which was active till 1938, when the Racial Laws cut the experience short. Around 200 hundred young Jews coming from the countries where the persecution was in full swing found a shelter at Ricavo and learned to till the soil from the Tuscan peasants. Most of them made it to Palestine and contributed to the establishment of the State of Israel. The book will be presented by Israel Corrado De Benedetti.
