The symposium is organized in the framework of the activities of the Mediterranean Cultures Project carried out by the Faculty of Humanities at Haifa University. The symposium will be dealing with a number of themes, of which the most relevant are undoubtedly the intertwined problems of identity, memory and culture in an era so deeply marked by the effects of globalisation. Three Italian scholars will be taking part in the symposium: Valerio Romitelli ans Claudia Pancino (Bologna University), and Silvia Paggi (Nice University). They will be talking respectively about : “Variations méditerranéennes dans la globalisation changeante”; “La rose de Jérico et les savoirs du corps dans l'espace méditerranéen”; “La difficile élaboration de la memoire collective du massacre nazi de 1944 à Civitella della Chiana” (in francese).
