Alessandro Lanzoni was born in Florence in 1992 to a family of musicians. He began playing the piano when he was only 5 years old. From the very beginning he showed a very precocious talent. After receiving a number of awards in national and international competitions both as a pianist and as a cellist, he realised that jazz was his most congenial genre. He went on to receive the prestigious Concorso Massimo Urbani International Award. In 2005 he was accepted at the Umbria Jazz courses and was selected as the best pianist for the Umbria Jazz 2006 edition . In 2007 he receveid a scholarship to attend Boston Berklee School. He has worked and played with such musicians and performers as Lee Konitz, Francesco Cafiso, Fabrizio Bosso, Marco Tamburini, Massimo Moriconi, Klaus Lessman, Giovanni Amato, Attilio Zanchi, Lello Pareti, etc. Together with Ares Tavolazzi and Walter Paoli he founded a Trio which had its première at the Barga Jazz Festival. In June 2007, at Torre del Lago Puccini, he was awarded the Memorial Marino Peruzzi Prize. In 2006 he played at the Eilat International Festival. In July 2007 he played at the Morgan Library Auditorium in New York where he returned in December the same year, following an invitation by the UN.
