International Holocaust Memorial Day 2015 – fourth appointmentRECOVERED MEMORYScreening of three family movies, which show the everyday life of two Jewish Roman families in 1923. Presents Claudio Della Seta, managing editor at TG5. A wedding in Perugia, a beach day in Anzio, a winter vacation in Valtellina. Nine minutes of silent, black and white movies, which show the everyday life of the Della Seta and Di Segni Jewish Roman families in 1923, long before the 1938 Racial Laws and the horror of the Shoa'.Several years ago, Claudio Della Seta, journalist and managing editor at Tg5, found at home three 35 mm reels but did not succeed in developing them. Then he gave the reels to the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro, which revived the films entrusting them to the Cineteca di Stato and the Centro sperimentale di Cinematografia."For a long time, Yad Vashem – explains Della Seta – looked for movies of Italian Jewish families before Nazifascism, but could not find any". Not only: "The 35 mm format – which only at the end of 1923 was paired with the 16 mm one – was very delicate, and there are no additional family movies available, not even in Cineteca di Stato: therefore, it is reasonable to think that these might be the first Italian family movies ever". The screening of the Della Seta – Di Segni family movies will be accompanied by the screening of a short documentary by Stefano Landini (Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia) on the movies' renovation process. Event held in Italian. Thursday, January 29th, 2015, at 19:00 Italian Cultural Institute rehov Meir Rutberg 12 – HaifaFREE ADMISSION
