The Italian playwright Manlio Santanelli brings to the stage two characters – Regina, a despotic and possessive mother, and her son, Alfredo, a failed, neurotic journalist. Returning home under the pretext of wanting to take care of his ailing mother, Alfredo conceals his cynical intention of saving his career by writing a sensational feature, namely reporting in detail the last days and the death of the old lady.
