The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation promotes the circulation of Italian editorial and cinematographic works abroad by providing incentives to translation and dubbing/subtitling initiatives, as a strategic tool for promoting Italian language and culture abroad. all over the world.
The Italian Foreign Ministry bestows two types of financial incentives:
- GRANTS for the translation of an Italian literary work, which has not yet been published abroad, and for the production, dubbing and subtitling of short/feature-length films and TV series;
- AWARD to an Italian book/work already translated abroad.
Proposals must be presented only and exclusively by filling out the application form in its entirety, in Italian or in English. The Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv should receive them by e-mail (iictelaviv@esteri.it) no later than April 24, 2024, complete with all the documents listed in the call for prizes and contributions to translation | 2024 edition.
Applications for GRANTS can be submitted for:
- the translation/pubblication in Hebrew of Italian literary/scientific works, also in digital form (e-books), to be published no earlier than August 1, 2024;
- the production, dubbing or subtitling of feature films, short movies and TV series intended for mass media circulation, to be released no earlier than August 1, 2024.
Applications for AWARDS can be submitted for:
- Italian literary and scientific works, also in digital form (e-book), already translated and published no earlier than January 1, 2023.
- production, dubbing, subtitling of feature films, short movies and TV series intended for mass media circulation, already released no earlier than January 1, 2023.
Applications for grants and prizes as in art. 1/call for prizes and contributions to translation | 2024 edition can be submitted by publishers, translators, production companies, dubbing companies, subtitling companies, distribution companies, literary agents/agencies and cultural and international bodies, based both in Italy and abroad.
